Book Review ~ Always True, by James MacDonald

Always True, by James MacDonald

What a rich and timely resource for anyone who is struggling under the weight of the hard stuff that life brings our way. Let's face is not easy, but God is good and in this book James MacDonald unpacks "God's 5 promises when life is hard."

I'll be straight up honest with you and don't have to be in the middle of storm to appreciate this book because the reality is that you either just got out of a storm, are in the middle of a storm or just found yourself walking into one. When the storms come it is comforting to find peace in these 5 promises.

Promise #1: God Is Always With Me (I Will Not Fear)
Promise #2: God Is Always In Control (I Will Not Doubt)
Promise #3: God Is Always Good (I Will Not Despair)
Promise #4: God Is Always Watching (I Will Not Falter)
Promise #5: God Is Always Victorious (I Will Not Fail)

Each promise is backed by Scripture and makes for a fantastic resource to put together a Scripture Booklet to help you as you study and soak up the truth found in these promises. I love the spiral index cards (like at Walgreen's or CVS), I use these all the time to keep God's Word and His promises close to my heart. It helps to have them my car, in my purse or even my computer bag, when I have a few extra minutes I can always whip them out and start reflecting on His promises and His Word.

This book is a terrific resource for anyone to have in their library and also to share with a friend. I've already shared a copy with a friend of mine as well.

God keeps His Word – every time.

Sometimes in life we are going along, doing all right; managing the ups and downs of our routines, when out of nowhere a boulder drops from the sky and crash lands on our lives. It might be a serious illness, a job loss, or something that just wasn't in the plan...But the weight is often sudden and crushing. We're desperate for help to come or we might not make it.

That’s the place in my life where the message of this book was born.

First, I sat down and gleaned the lessons from Scripture about life's trials that eventually became the book, When Life is Hard. But when life was hardest, I needed more than just lessons - I needed life support. I needed God’s promises.

This book contains five promises God makes over and over, to every person of faith, in every generation. When you make these truths your own, they'll become intensely personal, incredibly practical, and profoundly reliable.

Dig deep with me into God's Word. And receive His promises.
