Book Review ~ Shades of Morning

Slips of paper, notes of regret. And a boy who sees through it all.

Marnie has her life just where she wants it. At least that’s what she tells herself – her past is hidden, her regrets locked tightly in a box on her shelf, and her bookstore and coffee shop business is booming.

No one knows what she’s done, who she’s been. That is, until the man she once loved finds her again and brings startling news – she’s now the guardian of her 15-year-old nephew, a boy she never knew existed.

To make matters worse, when the boy arrives, she discovers he has Down syndrome. The past collides with the present, the box of regrets is exposed, and Marnie’s world shattered and rebuilt through the love of one special boy who makes all things new.

What a sweet surprise to pick up a book and be totally swept away with the characters.  I opened this book up on Tuesday of last week and found that I just could not put it down...it captured my heart, had me on the edge of my seat, and then as the book came to a close blew me away.

I ended up finishing the book Wednesday night because in that short period of time I became so attached to the characters that I just had to know what would happen next.  Then the coolest thing happened....I cried (and cried and cried) at the end.  I literally wept tears of joy, as the ending came to a close.

I sat there and just had to there and allow myself to process this incredible journey that I had gone on over the last two days...it's so amazing that a book of 325 pages can move you like that!

This book is so wonderfully complex, so well written, such an amazing adventure that I would highly recommend it to any and all of my friends that are looking for a good Christian Fiction book this summer.
