Book Review ~ Life in Defiance

Yesterday I sat down to read the final book, Life in Defiance, of the Defiance Texas Trilogy by Mary DeMuth.

What I wasn't prepared for was that I would finish the 354 page book in one setting or that it would completely capture my thoughts throughout the entire night.

I wrestled and wrestled with the "what if's" of this book throughout the night and absolutely could not get a good nights sleep.

The first two books of the series captured my interest, pierced my heart, and I've actually been waiting to see what would happen in this story, they are a great build up to this final book. If you want to get an idea about the series, you can go back and visit the reviews of them here Daisy Chain and A Slow Burn.

Now for this book...I'm not even sure I can wrap my head around it, except that I absolutely could.not.put.this.book.down.

The story broke my heart, shred it into millions of little pieces, then over the course of the three books started to slowly put things all back together again.

I've never read a Christian Fiction book that has evoked such strong emotions in me, never!  The only thing that was emotionally close was Francine Rivers book "Redeeming Love" but even that didn't have the storyline that this book series has taken on.

There were times when I absolutely hated some of the characters, I wept for others, then I would cry tears of joy just moments later for the stories of redemption in others.  It truly was an incredible adventure right in the safety and comfort of my own back porch.

I don't know how she did it, but Mary DeMuth did it again, she's "Turning Trials into Triumph"...if you are looking for an intriguing, exciting, emotional adventure this summer then you should absolutely pickup ALL THREE books in this trilogy...you won't be disappointed!
