Book Review ~ Thin Places

From the moment I picked up this book I was riveted...Mary's words are so real, so authentic, so very personal and so vulnerable.  At first I wondered if I would even be able read through the entire book, the stories of her life punched me in the stomach and knocked the wind out of me for a minute.

They touched my heart, and as a woman the only thing I wanted to do was to scream the injustice of what she has lived through,wrap my arms around her and give her a hug.

It was only after I started to see that instead of being bitter or angry she was actually full of His love, His grace, and His mercy that I began to realize that it is in those Thin Places that we are actually closest to Him.

Her story has the opportunity to radically change the way we see the trials and tragedies in our lives as a chance to see Him through the Thin Places.

From the back of the book;

"Thin places are snatches of holy ground, tucked into the corners of our world, where we might just catch a glimpse of eternity.  They are aha moments, the beautiful realizations."

In her moving spiritual memoir, Mary DeMuth traces the winding path of thin places in her life, places where she experienced longing and healing more intensely than before.  Mary's story invites you to a deeper understanding of your own story.  She calls you to discover new ways to look for God in the past so that you might experience him more profoundly in the present...A God ready to break through any ordinary day or extraordinary pain and offer you a glimpse of eternity.

Okay, first let me say that your book reviews are always awesome. I cannot write a book review like that.

Second, your recent reviews have convinced me to start reading fiction (don't know where it will fit, but I'm working on it).

Finally, darn, my non-fiction reading list is already too big, and now I have to add this book onto it.

I don't know if I should be thanking you or yelling at you for lengthening my to-do list :)

Beautifully written, humbling review. I'm so thankful the book blessed you. And I pray that those who read the book would feel hope, and know that they are not alone. God sees. Oh, how He sees.
