Then Sings My Soul ~ "The Motions"

Happy Saturday and Welcome back for another "Then Sings My Soul Saturday". My friend, Amy, hosts this awesome weekly meme at her blog, Signs, Miracles, and Wonders, so if you want to go over there to check out other GREAT songs this Saturday I would love for you to do that and tell her that Melissa sent ya!

This week has been the first week in awhile that life didn't just sweep me off to the abyss (I know, a bit dramatic, but true) and I was able to feel like I was getting my feet back on the ground. It's been a whirlwind couple of months with my mom being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, my grandmother (mom's mom) being diagnosed with Bone Marrow Cancer, Easter/Good Friday, going back into paid ministry at my church, my son has a health scare last week, and well, life has been just nuts.

The cool thing is that through it all my passion to serve Him, to tell the world about Him, and to grow to be more like Him is growing each and every day. When the world would tell you to sit back, lick your wounds, and re-group, my God tells me to go forth in faith and stand firm in who I am in Him.

That's why this week's song, Matthew West's "The Motions", has touched a nerve and been my "theme song" for this season. I pray that it meets you right where you are and know that if there is ever anything I can do to pray for you then I will, just shoot me an email and I will add your prayer request to my prayer journal.

Lyrics to "The Motions" by Matthew West

This might hurt
It’s not safe
But I know that I’ve gotta make a change
I don’t care
If I break
At least I’ll be feeling something
‘Cause just ok
Is not enough
Help me fight through the nothingness of life

I don’t wanna go through the motions
I don’t wanna go one more day
Without Your all consuming
passion inside of me
I don’t wanna spend my whole life asking
What if I had given everything?
Instead of going through the motions

No regrets
Not this time
I’m gonna let my heart defeat my mind
Let Your love
Make me whole
I think I’m finally feeling something

Take me all the way
Take me all the way
Take me all the way

This is such a great song. It was going through my head last night!

Sita 6:13 PM

This song ties in with Linda's tribute to Rachel...who lived for their passion for God...
..sorry to hear about the deluge of 'trials' and pray that you know His deluge of grace to bear, that His Providence is in every circumstance...

I love TSMSS because I hear many new songs. Melissa, I know it's been a hard week or so for you and I'm praying for you and your concerns. May the Lord bless you, equip you and provide His strength and wisdom.

Sweet Mel,

I love this worship song too. I don't want to go through the motions, either. I want what I do, think and say to matter...and this is where I must kick my pride in the butt!

Keep talking about your mom and grandmom. When you mention them, I remember to pray for all of you. And I remember others whom I love: a friend who has battled addiction, the one going through a divorce, my son's friend who lives in an abusive home.

The needs are greater. God is much, much (beyond words!) greater. He loves YOU with a passion.

Blessings, Lucy
