Get Your Foot out of your Mouth

Has this ever happened to you? This was me...just about ALL day today. I had some sort of "short circuit" when it came to the space between my brain and my mouth...if a thought blew threw my mind it blew right out of my mouth. Seriously...I am NOT kidding (although I wish I was). I felt slighty better, because two of the other chicks that I spent my day with were struggling with the same thing (misery truly loves company).

Tonight I had to jump back into the Bible in the book of James...it was the first book of the Bible that I read, have lots of notes and highlights in it, but apparently tonight I need a refresher course in it. So...check out what I found...

James 3:5, "So also, the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do." oh, and check this one out; James 3:8, ", but no one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison.". OUCH!!!! There's a stinger...

Ok...I have to go back and really focus on my first "life verse" which was James 1:19, "My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, so to speak (that one always gets me), and slow to get angry." (emphasis mine)

You know...I know that I need to take another moment after the thought comes to my head before I say anything...I just let myself fall back into that trap.

How do you tame your tongue? Or, better yet...do you struggle with the words that fly out of your mouth?

I would LOVE to hear from you and see how you beat the battle against the tongue...~Melissa

When words are many, sin is not absent, but (s)he who holds his (her) tongue is wise. Prov.10:19 -
my life verse for my big mouth!

you know better than anyone else that im the worst when it comes to speaking WHATEVER is on my mind. But these last few month God has really put it in perspective, that I need to think about who I am affecting when I open my mouth because I might not think I am being hurtful, but that doesn't mean Im not hurting someone else. You were a big part in my realization, so thank you for helping me change my bad habit!
